TESTIMONIAL: JENNY BAYNES Mutual Member Artist
I became a member of The Mutual after seeing a call out for proposals for a residency and exhibition at The Glue Factory in December 2010. I received support in every aspect of the making and install, from The Mutual negotiating the right space for the work and suggestions for sourcing a projector. The exhibition was well attended and received good reviews in The List and The Skinny. This support on the residency gave me the opportunity to try a new method of animating which is now a fundamental part of my practice.
Since then, I have submitted further proposals to the many opportunities The Mutual have offered to their members to develop new work and to exhibit, which have been paramount to the development of my practice in the past year. I have made new animations on a solo residency at The Scottish Ballet, and exhibited my work in a group exhibitions in the CCA and The Briggait and a solo exhibition at SWG3, Arch 24. In all of these exhibitions, the spaces and equipment, was organised and sourced through the immense support of The Mutual and through the collaborative aspect from the members.
